    SOS!SOS!...the SS BAUT is sinking!!

    Hi...

YOUR the Captain on board the SS Baut which is sinking in the pacific, your radio is out on the ship, and all the life boats have failed except for one..there is enough room for 6 people on board including yourself.(I'm a coward I'm not going down down with my ship!)...

So who are you going to take with you from the SS BAUT?? you don't have much time left!!!You have 15 minutes to decide who goes with you and why!!!

    I would go with:

1.Mugs...he's a pilot so he has good nav skills
    2.Ginnie...he's a +ve guy
    3.Pzkpfw...he's a kiwi,so am I!
4..someone with an astronomy background(a scientist here;the ancients navigated by the stars)
5.One of the mods...they have have to deal with people problems here, so they would be good to keep the survivors in line...when things get a bit out of hand!!

Sarongsong I made him walk the plank along time ago!!
Neverfly he can think about keeping the sharks company as well..they haven't been fed lately so thats something for the sharks to look forward to!!

have fun your time is running out,the SS BAUT is sinking and the pacific is a big place!

Hint: the only resources you have is what you have on you RIGHT NOW!! (a pen in your hand, some scrap paper in your pocket, a shoe lace)

have fun, look forward to your response!!

    Paul

and I thought that was good judgement...Jeff Root

it would be good to have someone with nav skills in the boat rather than drifting aimlessly!

    what does FIWI mean??

You don't have a radio, its on the the SS BAUT thats sinking it doesn't work, your on the lifeboat with 5 others, how are you going to communicate with the rest of the world? if you have a watch you might be able to reflect the sun to a passing aeroplane,if you smoke you might have lighter to help keep you warm.(you DON'T have a cell phone)

will you survive or will you perish...what are your chances of success. I picked someone with nav skills (Mugs) so thats good.

Yeah, no problem---I'm levitating 30' beyond the end of the plank already, so walking on water back to port should be no problem...

Not yet. I'd had the site bookmarked for quite awhile already because the kid (16 at the time; now about 26) who started it in his bedroom had gained quite a reputation as an expert at extracting Freedom of Information Act materials from the government, which was/is notoriously reluctant to part with anything unless all the T's were crossed and the I's were dotted when submitting requests. Glad to see he has Forums now.

Don't Captains have to pass a Boating Pilot Test?

    Talking Obligatory Deck Chair Reference

I'm going down with the ship. Could someone please give me a hand rearranging the deck chairs?

Why must there be a morning after,
    Following the evening before?
I tell myself there'll be no drinking,
No more waking on the floor!

    Why must there be a mm-blurble-blurble blub-blub-blub ... ?

As long as humans look something like seals to sharks they'll bite -- and that's all it takes.

Actually... Most attacks occur to bloated clothing, surf boards etc...

All I would need to do is take off my shirt and not move very much to be ignored.

Shark bites and attacks are very rare.

Sharks are not above taking a "nibble" (CHOMP!) to see if something's edible or not, and that might require me to take evasive action... But all the same, my odds in the water with sharks are still much better than my odds in the boat with Paul Leeks.

    Very likely true.

Actually I like chipped beef on toast. I don't know how it got such a reputation.

Oh, wait a minute! This thread isn't about that SOS! I thought that after a thread about SPAMTM someone had started a thread about SOS. My bad!

Stay away from surfboards then. Use a deck chair to keep yourself afloat.

it is a clever trick that aliens play, they make a human shaped form object made purely of fat, and then throw them in the sea; sharks get the taste for it, and ET gets his revenge on Spielberg for making aliens look like anorexics in "close encounters"

That answers none of my questions. I responded in that thread, please answer there, not here. Thanks!

Well, he can grab a rope too, but he decided to abandon ship! Paul said I was the captain, so I just did what captains do. Get the ship fixed! I approached the problem in the OP with an open mind, free from dogmas, in holistic fashion. I looked at the problem more broadly and deeply because in this example truth and reality are two different things.

You faced it with fierce bravado and a giant cork.

    Rock.

No martini thanks, but I'll take a Dr. Pepper...
