    Triangle of stars moving

Right,so I went outside and decided to gaze into the stars,I looked up for about 15 mins and during this time I saw a shooting star,a very bright Jupiter and something which I can describe as ((sorry for the poor use of words)) really really cool!((sorry again *L*)).

Pretty much Three stars,in the form of a triangle, they werent close but at an even distance, they were all white and moved slower then a plane which you would see when flying high but much faster than when you can see satelites. The stars/ligths/whatevevrs all moved at the same pace and after well, around a minute they disapeared, starting with the top one.

This happened around 25-30 mins ago.

I looked it up on google http://www.google.ie/search?hl=en&q=...e+Search&meta= and it seems to have been viewed a few times but the one that seems to match it.It's from this site too

In that article they say how it may have been NOSS satelites(( http://www.satobs.org/noss.html )) but they were moving too fast and were too bright to be them in my opinion.

Oh,nearly forgot to say my father saw it as well.

Well, then it must have been alien spacecraft. It's about time they showed up. Until now, the big question was always, "Where are they?" Now the big question to ask them is, "What do you know about alternative fuels?"
Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts.

It sounds like the famous summer triangle, they would move in formation, slowly. I wonder if people are overestimating the speed of this motion. I've looked in telescopes many times under magnification, and am astonished how fast the diurnal motions of celestial objects are.

How fast were these objects moving (seconds of arc per seconds of time), and how fast have known satellites or high altitude planes been observed moving?

Too fast for a satellite? Maybe.

Too slow for a plane? Not necessarily.

There is plenty of overlap in the apparent speeds of satellites and aircraft. A jetliner cruising at 500mph at an altitude of 7 miles has approximately the same apparent speed as a satellite at 250 miles. A satellite in a lower orbit would appear to be going faster than that, and a plane at higher altitude and/or lower speed would appear slower.

G'day Seloth, and welcome to the BAUT Forum

What was the time when you were watching? And what direction were the lights travelling?

The other thought which comes to mind is that they might have been the old UFO standby - garbage bags inflated by air heated by candles. They'll travel in formation too, and disappear when the candles go out.
