I just realised that a member of FWIS who died recently was also a member here.
The user known here and FWIS as Russ, passed away on Wednesday May 23, 2011.

I'm very sorry to hear that. He hadn't visited BAUT recently, but I definitely remember his posts.

I am back for a bit, just checking to see if there is any more info on that LNER E-cat thingy. Seems it is a scam according to opinions here.

I pop in and out. Facebook games hog a lot of the time I spend online. By the time I'm done feeding my fish, farming my farms, digging up my islands for treasure, and petting my pets, I'm ready to be off the computer for awhile. I have some pics from my Galapagos trip I'll likely post in a few days, though.

Go ahead and tell us a little about yourself . . . but not too much.

Oh, good--I was worried that it was funny in my head but would come across as rude.

How did writers of ancient times (BC - Before Computers) ever get
ideas across to their readers without emoticons? It is a wonder!

Wasn't an issue; emotion wasn't invented until sometime in the nineteenth century, well after the first colon and parentheses were joined together by George G Smilie.

I'm so used to Facebook now that I was looking for the 'Like' button on your post, Fazor. Where did the emoticon function go, anyway?

And emoticons followed soon after. There were 19th century emoticons, and Lincoln might have been an early adopter, but that's debated. I'm serious. See:

(Oh, correction, the Lincoln reference was a transcript made by someone else.)

Just heard from her through Sammiie, she's ok but still haven't gotten the internet connection sorted out, so communication was through Facebook via Sammiie's phone.
From Samiiee: "she said to pass on that she'll be back soon she's just taking a break. Wanting to get everything sorted out"
