    Possible changes to copyright law?

    I've just found this and thought there might be relevence to people here;

    http://mag.awn.com/index.php?ltype=p...no=3605&page=1 (37kb) n.b. naughty word on 1st page. 3 pages in total

    it is from 'Animation World Magazine' and has the following title "Mind Your Business: You Will Lose All The Rights to Your Own Art"

    It appears to be an attempt to change the copyright laws so that you will only own copyright if you register it with a registration company, any unregistered work will be free to be registered by anyone. So, potential for huge profits.

    Mods/others; If there is a better place to post this or better title please feel free to change it. (I did a quick search on "copyright" here and don't think this has been brought up ; if it has, then sorry).

    I don't think the proposed law (I've read both the Senate and House versions) is quite that bad.

    However, for a more learned opinion, Lawrence Lessig, a Stanford law professor known for copyright and constitutional law, writes an op-ed in the NYT today. He has a problem with the vagueness of the required diligent effort to find copyright holders and proposes an alternative fix to the 1978 copyright law.
