13 yr. old corrects NASA on asteroid Apophis.

Hey, this kid was smart enough to steal my idea from a BA thread I started way back in 2006. ...about Apophis possibly hitting our man-made satellites...and changing course. Obviously he reads BA.

The kid got it wrong. Previously discussed here (among other places):

Its trajectory isn't right to hit a satellite, and if it did, it is too massive to be affected.

Thanks Pete; you recognized that too. I was poking fun on this post; ..but as you noted, I was seriously more surprised about them not understanding the value of c from Maxwell eqns. Even after I was so pointed about it.... It went right over their heads.....

....but I think that was more just from innocent ignorance of first year college physics than from anything intentional. I usually just leave it alone if they don't get it.....sometimes later it sinks in.

'Eta C' brought it up again after I did....with apparently the same null response.

Oh well; you can lead a horse to water.....

It's the beginning of the understanding of unified field theories...that electric fields, magnetic fields, and light are all manifestations of one of the four forces in nature...electromagnetism. It is always surprising to see so many questions about gravity, SR and GR....from questioners never having associated the other three as one. Work in progress. ...pete
