    First attempt at astrophotography

My first attempt at astrophotography...easiest thing in the sky to hit: the moon!

I'm going to try and photograph the lunar eclipse tonight, and I was just playing with the settings on the camera to figure everything out. I think this one was taken at 1/250 exposure time, and I don't remember any other settings (this was the good picture, and I didn't write it down)

    Hi Justintree,

    Did you use a tripod?
If you right click on your picture then click the Summery
tab then click Advanced tab it should give you all the settings you used.

Well done on your first pic.

For a guide I use 1/50 and 7.1 aperture on iso50 when the moon is 0-12days old and then I switch to 1/250 for the bright times.
I would use 4seconds and 3.0 aperture for an eclipse.

    Regards,

    Paul

    Hi Paul,
Yes I did use a tripod, though not a very sturdy one (not that it needs to be extremely sturdy for a 1/250 shot)

Eclipse pictures coming soon - I have a couple nice shots and a bunch of not so nice shots that I would like suggestions on what I could have done better.

Ok, here are my eclipse pictures. I have a nice shot of totality, and I also grabbed a few shots of Cassiopeia. The nice shots I am attaching directly, and the rest are going in a couple of .rar files (having trouble with those at the moment, they will be up later today hopefully...if not then on Monday) - anyone who wants to can feel free to download them and provide suggestions as to how I could have improved.
