what I just did.
We just loaded up our magnetometer with liquid helium. It is so cold that our vent was liquefying the air around it. We had air droplets and even air-cicles hanging off the vent. The air drops falling into my hand were cold but most didn't even make it that far. They boiled before falling even a few inches. Of course it was cold enough to burn your skin if it was a large enough drop. The asbestos gloves sure helped.
Overall we transfered 64 liters of liquid helium from a Dewar, and it was an exciting 30 minutes.
