Hi there, could someone please tell me what that is again?
I'm sure you guys remember, I don't.
There was piece of it on the Nasa archive.

May be not the right place to put this.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I am not sure what you are asking for..... can you clarify?
Well, surely you can't recognise that? the middle thumb nail that piece of footage of the testing on the Apollo 11 flight?
It's really weird that you posted a screenshot with eight thumbnails and expected everyone to guess that you want to talk about thumbnail 3. But anyway, I've seen it before. I'm looking for a thread about it now so that I can give you some more information.
No, the screenshot is myn.
I'm talking about the image there with the Earth, that is from the testing footage from Apollo 11.
Hi. I'm interested in learning more about the video shown below:

Can anyone tell me at what point in the mission (what time and date) it was taken and for what purpose it was taken? Thanks in advance for any help.
G'day TDGTTM
Like the others, I don't understand what you're asking about.
I looked at the clip whose URL was at the bottom of the screen dump in the OP, but it just looks like some footage from Apollo 11. What about it did you want to know?
Well tofu, that's a really interesting question. The video was taken at 10 hours and 40 minutes into the mission. It was part of a test that ground control requested, to make sure they could get a clean signal. Here's a quote: "We'd like to get about 10 minutes worth of signal at Goldstone so we can look at the camera quality back here at Houston for about 10 minutes or so when they patch it back into us. What we were saying was that you can go interior or exterior on the camera."
And then after that, the shot shown in the video takes place. A complete transcript of that part of the mission may be found here:

Welcome to BAUT tofu, and please let me know if you have any other questions about that video.
My Question was, why is it there? The archieve should be of relevant footage, not a confusing clip that wasn't supposed to of been shown.
Why put testing footage, with footage that is for viewing? You see what I'm saying?
Sibrel's attempts were childs play, the former Astronauts should of at least had said what it was.
This would of prevented all this garbage, at least a try in that direction.
My Question was, why is it there? The archieve should be of relevant footage, not a confusing clip that wasn't supposed to of been shown.
Why shouldn't the clip have been shown?
It looks to me like it's a segment from the live telecast. It was seen by millions. Bart Sibrel is not at all a good authority on what was test footage and what was broadcast.
Well, my personal view is that ANY footage taken by the astronauts while achieving what is still (IMHO) mankind's greatest ever adventure, is very relevant and absolutely fascinating!
I remember seeing it all happen on TV at the time. It is something I will never forget.
I can't say for sure (I was 9 at the time), but I even vaguely remember it (or something very similar). At the time, the world was fascinated with Apollo 11, and watched every little bit that was on TV. I'm sure people were fascinated with live TV pictures of the Earth from halfway to the moon.
So I second it, what is not relevant or confusing?
I thought Tofu's posts were really amusing!
But I don't understand the point of this thread in the slightest!
Pete
Tofu was demonstrating how a question should be asked if you want an answer.
It's not NASA's job to keep proving Apollo happened.
All photographs and footage are publicly available, and just because there are some people willing to twist anything into 'evidence' is no reason to change that.
We only have to point out what the twist was.
(The narration was live. I doubt anybody anticipated Sibrel and Co.)
We should have a Best Post of the Month Award.![]()
Actually I stand corrected; I didn't read tofu's post attentively enough; Armstrong's narration is indeed from GET 10:40: or so, making it the test footage and not the later live telecast as I had suspected. Silly me.
If the "problem" is simply that this test footage is mixed in with clips that were originally intended for broadcast, then it's really not much of a problem. In 1969 it may have been an important distinction, but NASA has been handing out the "backstage" clips as well as the live telecasts and 16mm transfers since at least the late 1980s. It's part and parcel of the whole Apollo motion picture package, regardless of its original intent.
Jay, does this mean you get an "I corrected Jay Utah" t-shirt?
Pete
I believe that's highly appropriate in a thread where tofu is talking to himself.

Dear fellow BAUTs,
Don't feed the Trolls it's a phrase I've read on another sceptic forum.
This is to remind memebers that some folks just attend forums to cause annoyance by posting rethoric questions, ignoring answers and laughing their butts off back home in the safety of their caves.

That's not a nice thing to say.
The OP is an enthusiast but needs to hone his/hers communication skills.
I think s/he's quite young or inexperienced.
