    NBA Basketball!

My favorite team, the Detroit Pistons, are once again looking strong. They have a tough schedule in January so I'll be interested to see if they can keep it up.

Looks like Boston made the right moves this summer in an effort to return to their former glory. We'll see if three no championship having all-stars can come together and do what none have been capable of individually. Of course, one of their three losses was to the Pistons, so as of now - the road still goes through Detroit!

It's all the usual suspects out west. San Antonio, Dallas, and Phoenix. However - the Lakers and Portland appear to be making a strong run as well.

Any other NBA fans out there?

Living near San Antonio I have become a Spurs fan. Though I secretly like the Mavs, when they aren't playing the Spurs.

I grew up in Sacramento so I am a Kings fan, although that is hard to admit lately I am also required to be a Laker-Hater

My commute takes me through TD BankNorth Garden twice a day. While I had pretty much stopped noticing Basketball (or Hockey) over the last several years, it seems to be happy times in Boston these days for sports fans, and I've started to notice again.

It is worth noting that the Celtics have not had a lot of games against Western or Texan powerhouse teams, so I wouldn't expect them to finish the season with a .900 win ratio.

Speaking of Detroit, I'd have to say that the Tigers are looking like the baseball team to beat in 2008.

Living in the Seattle area, I naturally have no interest in the NBA whatsoever!

Don't follow NBA. If I did, the Cav's would be "my team". But as it stands, I don't really care how they do. It's nice if they do well, because it helps support Cleveland. But if the team decided to move to say, Baltimore, I wouldn't be as upset as I was approximately 10 years ago.

Being from Michigan, I have a natural aversion to all things "Ohio" - and so therefore I hate the Cavs. Even moreso because some rookie with the nickname "Boobie" had the best week of his life and caused us to lose in the Eastern Conference Finals last year (LeBron James inhuman explosion in game 5 notwithstanding).

I do respect and admire the Spurs both as an organization and opponent. They play the game the right way and the 2005 finals was a great series - even if the major TV markets on the coasts didn't pay it much attention. That was one of those series that I can accept the loss because both teams competed so well and the outcome could have gone either way.

The Spurs organization is quite active in community affairs. The Coyote came to our school's technology fair last year and donated some spectacular gifts to give away. The Coyote put on quite a nice little show. Made our kids and teachers happy.

I'm a basketball tragic, still playing and coaching 31 years after making my first squad in High School (although a tad slower these days ).

I support the Kings too, which means I hate Robert Horry with a passion. We would have got a ring that year if it weren't for him....

I've also got a soft spot for Milwaukee, seeing our local boy Andrew Bogut is starting centre. However, supporting the Kings and the Bucks means that I see a lot of 'L's when I check the boxscores these days....(I think the Kings bus must have run over a black cat - Bibby, Martin and now Artest - sheesh!!)

I think Boston are the real deal this year. What they did to LA at Staples was scary (although it might have been the Laker's shorts). Spurs are always strong and Detroit will be tough as ever. Portland are the big surprise at the moment, but I don't see it lasting. Keep an eye on both Orlando and New Orleans for a run in a year or two (Paul and Howard will become franchise players).

Oops, The Pipers were ABA, not NBA. Forget I said anything.
