I really think it's too bad that someone as knowledgeable as he got banned, but I don't blame the BA either. Have kind of been expecting it in fact. He didn't seem to understand that some of the things he was saying qualified as ad hominem attacks. Hope he does now.

I cus in real life. I cuss on the irc. When I post here, I have the chance to self-censor my cussing (on the occasion that I would feel like cussin). This is a good thing. Using a cussword here hardly does anything that an excalmation point won't accomplish. I cannot see any valid reason for cussing on an astronomy board...

Does the colloquialism "cuss" exist out side the southern US? I'm pretty sure it's just a corruption of "curse", with typical Southern drawl thrown in. But I've never been out of the South long enough to hear it used elsewhere (except for Germany, but that doesn't really count, then).

Truth be told, it wasn't Billy Buck's fault. Even if he had fielded it, he wouldn't have beaten Mookie to the bag. And the real blame lies with either John McNamara for leaving Billy Buck out there instead of putting in a defensive replacement as he did all year long (he wanted Buck to be out there for the on-field victory celebration), or Mike Stanley/Rich Gedman for the wild pitch/passed ball that really did us in.

I don't understand why he got so upset. Besides, I'm not that young. I'm 22 and almost done with college. I didn't mean to make him angry. I thought I was being pretty reasonable. I was just trying to get him to tone things down a little so Star Girl wouldn't run across it. I know I can be overprotective sometimes, but Star Girl is still pretty innocent for her age (we live in a small mormon community) and this is one of the few bulletien boards she can go to without Mom worrying about what she will see and read. Anyway, I'm sorry for being such a prude. :(

It wasn't your fault. Like the BA said, Till was a troll. He would have gotten banned eventualy for something else. I, for one, am glad that we don't need to worry about language on this board. This should be a site that young people, like Star Girl, can frequent.
