Some people could have multiple accounts appearing from the same ip if their are behind a router that is assigned just one ip by the isp and they are using NAT. IE if you have a fraternity house with 6 guys there and 3 post they will have the same ip if they are behind a router using NAT. It is not against the rules but if the ip banning tool is used too much and too swiftly it could hurt innocent people.

    Just my two pennies.

Probably a combo of his numerous ad hom's and possibly the posting of copyrighted materiels (those lengthy excerpts). Or maybe the BA was getting worried about Gary's posts filling up the available disk space on the server.

Two different people, no, that's not sock-puppetry.

On the other hand, if you were the same person (and I'm not accusing you of this, mind you) as one or more of Prince, Yul, Yannox, Oyvey, or Armilus (and I'm not saying one or more of them was the same, mind you), that would be. Not to mention a AUG violation for reincarnating yourself (not that I'm saying you have, mind you).

So, no, it's not "discrimination" by the BA. Welcome to the board, Hezekiah's Sundial, you brand-new, first-time, fresh-faced BABB member, you!

I think that this post was the reason.

If any of us wrote something like that we would be banned too.

To be fair, some people were getting pretty heated towards him, rambling posts or not.

Of course, I stand guilty of accusations of sock-puppetry with basically no evidence to back it up, so I shouldn't point too many fingers.

I was wondering how long that would take. He was pretty clearly a shill for a con man .. and most likely a sockpuppet as well. Some time back we had a very similar poster show up and try to promote Newman's machine. I don't remember the name, but it's not hard to find with the search engine.

My brother once was temporarily banned from an online game because his ip was the same as someone he didnt even know, He wasnt on any kind of network or anything it just happend to be the same though im not sure how that can happen i thought everyones ip had to be different.

Your provider has a chunk of IP numbers that it distributes to its customers. Some people have dynamic addresses which means they are assigned a new IP from the pool each time they connect. So I connect (say by dial-up), get an IP, do my dirty work, then hang up. My old address is returned to the pool and awaits another (unsuspecting) user to pick it up.

BTW you know you guys can easily reset and renew your ip even on DSL and thus mask it?

You just open command prompt in WinXP, type "ipconfig/release" without the quotes, press enter, then "ipconfig/renew" again without the quotes.

  15. #465
But its harder to mask your posting styles as two different people. You have to be prety good to do that.

On WinXP, Tranquility? Surely there must be a way to do it on Linux... *nix is, after all, primarily designed for networking stuff...

(No, I won't even ask about Win98. No way that OS can have anything like what you described.)

Actually they both do. Remember in 98 you can completly remove TCP/IP and you can't in XP.

In linux try "dhcpcd -k". When using DHCP.

Yeah it's available in the other OS's I just haven't tried on anything besides XP.

But I think that was only because he was having problems logging on as HUb'.
Everything I need to know I learned through Googling.

Wow - that was before my time.... I have yet to have the free weekend needed to work on my advanced Hub'ology. I was following the Chanticleer posts for a while and then my brain exploded. I guess the pdx00782 is his Portland State homepage nic as well.

I'm getting good at HUb'ology. He's getting funnier, if you notice his hidden messages within messages. HUb' is unique and complex.

Lyford, you should register on HUb's web site and then post to one of his threads. You'll be surprised at how fast you start to understand him.

Heh... And suddenly, I have started taking my Latin notes in something that looks suspiciously like Lua. You may be losing me too...

Okay, HUb'ology it is. I had it right in my other posts back when I thought he was a rogue AI roaming the net.

I lurked on the HUb'bb and the website, and I am so tempted to join, but right now I really shouldn't even be on this board as much as I am. Something about working for a living, I think. Not that posting here isn't a productive use of my time...

I understood from that other thread that HUb' uses Lynx (as I did, back in 1993-1995) to post and that may contribute to his "style."

BTW, is Manley Hubble really HUb'?

Holy line-count Batman!!!! Anyone get a # on that one??? Gotta be at least a couple hundred. . .

according to a direct copy to MS word:
    Pages: 23.
    Words: 8,528.
    lines: 1,016

But then again it looks to be 90% copied form something else and other people. Heck i bet if you actually take time tro read it all there are probobly many sections that do not conform to his/her theory or edited to conform to it. Its just so freaking long nobody is going to bother to read it all.
