Even more proof Nancy doesn't know what she's talking about

Sign of the Times #148 reports that Planet X appears in a photo accompanying a New Scientist article showing a sunny scene in Antarctica. The problem? It's winter down there - there's no Sun! That photograph has to be four months old, at least!

But, as usual, the folks on Godlike are not convinced. (SunSpot is my nom de guerre over there, by the way.)

    ToSeek,

You are a braver man than I. I went there and had to leave after a few seconds. How do you handle that tripe?

According to what I've found, in Antartica the sun sets on April 20th and doesn't rise until August 20th.

I also did some research on the photographer (Phil Kyle). From what I can find, the photo appears to have been taken in 2002 (a similar photo of an ice tower on Mount Erebus is on a website dated June 2002).

Gee, you guys are so tough on poor Nancy! Come on! When your delusional system is crashing arround your ears, you got to take a few liberties with little things like dates. What's a few months among friends?

Uh ya. And the guy who took the pic in 2002 was so interested in the ice-cano that he didn't notice 7 extra solar bodies in a straight line across the sky?

Thanks for the extra info. Do you have a reference for the former?

Maybe that's what happened to Kobe or his date. One of their delusional systems crashed and one of them took a few liberties with thier date.

I guess I just try not to take it too seriously, or else treat it as anthropological research. I enjoyed starting that thread, though, particularly since I know Nancy reads GLP. I hope I frosted her cupcake!

Yep--more proof her delusions DO cause harm and that there ARE still folks buying into this crap!

(edited to fix typo--"hard" changed to "harm" Sorry, "finger trouble" as the Brits say)

Troubled Times: To the left of the ice tower is Planet X in plain view in all it's glory! [Note: Planet X is at the bottom of the Sun, and is not the flare from 4 o'clock to 10 o'clock.]

It's so glorious she has to point out where it is? She shoulda stuck with the lens flare on that one.

I'm still digging around but, here's the photographer's URL:

Yes, I've actually emailed him and asked when the photo was taken. I was more interested in a definitive source for when the Sun is up (or not) in Antarctica.

The professor credited with the photograph responded. He said it was definitely taken in December, either 2000 or possibly 1999. A bit long ago for Planet X, I think.

Of all sources to find - USA today.

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/science...t-column_x.htm

Also, you can do calculations of South Pole sunrise/sunset through this site:

    http://www.timeanddate.com/worldcloc...2003&day=1

According to the above site, the sun was down all through June and July 2003. Doesn't come up really until late September.

I just sent Nancy an email informing her of the fact. It ought to be interesting to see what kind of answer I get.

On the previous subject (sunrise/sunset at the South Pole), I ran Cartes de Ciel with an observatory location as far south as it would let me - basically it stays dark until the end of August where it is twilight - full sun doesn't appear until late September.

Signs of the times #161...Microsoft has identified a potential problem with windows XP... No @%^$... They have been finding little bugs in their software code for about 18 years now, it's about someone noticed it.

Come to think of it, why did they name it XP instead of PX :-k

actually, that was a joke. i knew the person that sent that in and he just wanted to play around. he certainly didn't quit his job. i told him it sounded too convincing, i was hoping he'd make it a little less realistic and see if they put it on anyway.

by the way, the above post is my first one on this board. i figured i should get one just to confirm to you guys that not all the sign of the times on the zetatalk website are people real people believing in her claims.

I am scared of lots of things, in what context do you mean?

Are you implying that we are scared of the truth? If not, what do you mean, and how is it relavent to this thread?

Scared is really not what this discussion area is about. It has more to do with the absolute nonsense spewing from several "woo woo" sites, in particular Zetatalk. If there is anything we are scared of it is the ridiculious assertions that a rogue planet entered our solar system at incredible speed, and then slammed on the brakes, and has sat in one place for 2 1/2 months cleverly disguised as a sun flare on a camera lens. 8)
According to them, this thing is 14,000,000 miles away, 4 times the size of the Earth with 26 times the gravitational pull of Jupiter, and so far has only caused hackers to target windows XP, and beer to go flat. :-({|= Unfortunatly, there are people out there who will believe anything they read on the internet, since this is the place where the light of learning always shines, and every website is dedicated to truth, justice, and the American way. =D>

OOPS...I'm on the soapbox again, take a look around this entire discussion area and also take a trip to Godlike Productions, and the Zetatalk website, and you will understand what this is all about.

Gmann, TS has already opened an own thread on this, so it should not be discussed here any longer. You can imagine how this thread goes...

Update concerning that email I sent Nancy...her response this morning was:

"I will post this info in the Sign #148, thanks!"

Of course, he corrected #148 but put it in the archive so that it doesn't appear on the main page.

I'm now going through the Soho C2 and C3 animated gifs to debunk the claims that Soho imaged planet X:
    http://www.zetatalk.com/teams/rogue/nancy354.htm

Of course, someone conveniently didn't include the rest of the frames after the supposed Soho C3 sighting.
