He says he's heard bidders paying as much as $800 on Ebay for a set of feathers. Frustrating fishermen can't afford the inflated prices.
So how many lures can the get with a "set"? How much was a "set" before? How rare was this "set"? How much is this inflation compared to other products like produce?

Judging from the number of feathers needed for a hairdo, a considerable price increase will probably squelch that demand anyway.

Yep; another case of a reporter just trying to find something to get people upset about.

OH MY... My kid wants a Prequel Star Wars costume and I want him to wear an original trilogy costume.

The 'Star Wars' divide: A tale of two costumes

If you were that much of a geek, then make the kid a stormtrooper costume. That appeared in both trilogies.

Not the worst example I've seen lately, but it put a visual in my head that I need to share.

Ok; this one may just be entertainment news, which usually ends up as non-news anyway. But; Couldn't they find anything more relevant to today to talk about than this?

Stop believing! Perry admits there's no 'South Detroit'

But New York Magazine's Vulture column decided to delve into a glaring mistake in the second line.
And; this columnist just "goes on and on and on and on" about how wrong this is. What does he have against poetic license?

Even at the end of the article he says it doesn't matter.

Simple: (in Perry's words, my bold)
"I ran the phonetics of east, west, and north, but nothing sounded as good or emotionally true to me as South Detroit," he told the reporter. "It’s only been in the last few years that I’ve learned that there is no South Detroit. But it doesn't matter."

Oh; and why the word "admit"? Did he deny it at some point?

Let's just say that the "Perry" they're discussing isn't one I thought was important in current events.

Now that you mention it, I have a feeling that's what prompted the story. Report anything to match names to current events to get people to read it.

The only Perry I want to read about is a platypus . . . and they don't do much.

There is no Perry about which I am interested in reading, including the platypus.

I love the internet. Can always trust that at least a small percentage of people will get my random, out-of-context references. The other day, I tweeted "I'd like a liter of cola" and had multiple Super Troopers replies within seconds. Woo!

I'm still reeling from the juxtaposition of "Twitter" and "mainstream". I guess that means I'm old.

Teddy bear gets woman traffic ticket
An Oregon woman received a $260 traffic ticket when she was caught driving in the HOV lane with a giant teddy bear.
A 2 minute video about a young woman who was in a hurry to go home. No controversy... nothing.
Two things I'd like to know:
    1) What's the point of the story? Is it supposed to be cute?
    2) How did this become national news? My suspicion at this point is the woman is the one who contacted the media for her 2 minutes of fame. If so; then shame on the media for giving it to her.

Well of course it's national news! She must be the first person in the history of ever to try to use an inanimate object to abuse the carpool lane. It's such a funny situation that I bet it'll even start appearing in television and movies! . . .

    2 Year old news?

This one I can forgive if it just happened, but it happened over 2 years ago!

That's bad enough without considering all the huge things in the news yesterday.

This can happen if you park by a hydrant (video)
It's about the firemen breaking the car windows so they can put the hose through to get to the hydrant.

The story isn't even tied to anything current. Did she just now see a picture of it?

On the plus side, she did admit it happened 2 years ago instead of just leaving that question unanswered.

That's funny though; we were just talking about this (kind of thing, not this specific incident.) A close friend is a fireman, and when he first started, they had to do this to a BMW that parked in front of a hydrant. He loved it.

I've also seen cars be crushed by the stabilizer feet on the large ladder trucks. That's usually more a case of wrong place, wrong time.

Shades of Giraldo Rivera and the Capone vault...

Tuesday: Cleveland: Local tavern plans to dig for Jimmy Hoffa's remains
Yesterday: The wall is being opened and they found bones
    Today: crickets.

But they weren't the only station reporting this. At least the following station gave the results.
The mystery of Jimmy Hoffa's remains in local bar is solved
    Not even human bones.

They look like chicken drumsticks cleverly arranged in a hand formation.

Shoot, the skeletonized seal flippers I found once looked a lot more like human bones than that. Hands, even. It was seriously disturbing at the time.

Well; the first station finally reported on the findings.
I think it took so long so they had time to cook up another story...
Jimmy Hoffa search at Wexler's Tavern ends but interest remains
Graziano says the mystery was fun but now it's time to get back to the work of running his bar. But the story may not quite be finished yet.
Workers at the tavern have claimed to see things they can't quite explain inside the bar.
Yep; you are back to running your bar... thinking of ways to promote it.
