A cloudy Sun and the Wild duck cluster

    Hi all.

Here are two photos. The Wild Duck cluster was taken Monday night.

The cloudy Sun photo was taken today at 7:00 pm my time while BBQing our diner. I thought this was cool. Both were taken with my sony cybershot and cleaned up in photoshop cs2 and noiseware. Clear skies to all Paul

    Hi guys.

Thanks for looking. Lucus yes I do have a higher resolution of this photo. I can send it to you if you like. Hi Phil how are you two doing. Narayan This image of the wild duck was taken using an 8 inch celestron with a tracking motor and my sony cybershot with a 18mm lens. This is a 20 sec shot.

    Nice pics Paul!

This is from wiki. I put this here for myself and any other neophyte.

The Wild Duck Cluster (also known as Messier 11, or NGC 6705) is an open cluster in the constellation Scutum. It was discovered by Gottfried Kirch in 1681. Charles Messier included it in his catalogue in 1764.

The Wild Duck Cluster is one of the richest and most compact of the known open clusters, containing about 2900 stars. Its age has been estimated to about 220 million years. Its name derives from the brighter stars forming a triangle which could represent a flying flock of ducks.

    Hi guys.
Narayan a friend of mine collects telescopes and he has lent me and old orange tube 8 inch celestron with a a tracking motor and a wedge mount to play with. I have been getting very good alignments using the program polarfinder and the scope seems to track very well. I like the 3 more inches this scope has, things do look much brighter.

I hope to get out tonight and try the wild duck and other clusters, upping the time to 30 sec a shot, if I capture anything I will post.

Tim thanks, the wiki is a nice touch. I must look into the site thanks again
Clear skies to you both Paul
