Hi all,

This morning, I took this image of Uranus with my Takahashi CN-212, and SBIG ST-402 camera with Meade 2x Apochromatic Barlow. I think this is my best one.

I am thinking of possibly trying to image the rings of Uranus in infrared in a few years when they are not edge on. Does anyone know what their surface brightness is, and if that is even possible with amateur equipment?

Nice pic. Just noticed that Uranus is pretty close to opposition: Sun Sep 9th.

Thanks. I thought it was getting close to opposition, seeing how it rises soon after sunset. It doesn't make much difference in it's apparent size though, with it being so distant.

You're right, of course. Never thought about that - but I've only seen Uranus a couple of times in my 6" Newt - and it's been years.
