I'm in Denmark, and they do have Danishes here!

They don't call them Danishes however. Germans don't call their dogs German Sheperds for that matter, and I hear in Brazil they just call them nuts.

So we're in Streur, Denmark up far north - the farthest I've ever been; we're at southern Alaska Latitudes and are already north of Moscow.

I'm travelling with a friend of mine, Jessica. She's from St. Louis and studied in Stuttgart like I did. Both of us are disapointed by the cold temperatures. This ain't no American summer I can tell you for sure. We're wearing sweaters right now and were even in the afternoon.

Our plan was originally to head north to Norway and Sweden, but we've changed our minds. We don't know where we'll be exactly in the next couple days except Copenhagen on Saturday. I'll try to post an itinerary when we decide. It'll be at this link

p.s. if anyone knows of a nice place to stay in Copenhagen - we've been trying to make reservations, and there is nothing.

Since you're in Denmark, please visit the medieval center for me. They have some great siege engines! And my ancestors came from that island as well.

You say Denmark is far north!?

Denmark is hardly a northern country with deciduous forests instead of proper conifer forests etc. They don't have a proper winter!

what? it is colder here in August than a Texas December. I've been shivering for the last few days.

I forgot to mention that the Danish food is fantastic and the people are wonderful. I am really glad I came here.

Thatīs true. American winters are far harsher [even in Texas].

I did some travelling around Europe this summer, and while in Scotland I bought a scarf because of how chilly it was. It was mind blowing to be wearing a sweatshirt and scarf in July!

Right now in Oxford it's a nice day, 78 (Fahrenheit of course) with a cool breeze. Tomorrow I'm going back to Florida, where it'll be hot hot hot. Such a drastic change.

Yeah, continental weather. Especially as the air can flow freely from Canada.

Well, don't leave us hanging. What are they called? A "Royale with frosting"?

I wish I knew. It was something like "pastry" but I'm not sure

Hey, I've been updating the blog since then. We've ridden to Copenhagen and then all over Poland this week. The trip is going fantastic except I expect to get rained on today.

    See you soon.
