Just came from "Godlike" There is someone posting as a "cmnsns" and he's really pulling their chains. At the bottom of his posts it reads
"Be Aware. Concentrate on Mars" (get It?). It was so funny I just had to post it.![]()

Pulling their chains, uh oh, sounds like more trouble for the BA.Originally Posted by frade1

But there's "NOBODY AT MARS"
I don't get it. Does this have to do with the passage of Mars in August? Nothing is gonna happen, except Mars being in prime viewing position.
No. read between the lines.
Try it this way:
Be Aware dot Concentrate On Mars.
I think this was funny the first time...but it's becoming trolling if the poster deliberately inflames the users of that other forum, in which case I dont think it's appropriate. I've never understood the "fun" of trolling...
I Know you are right. But, why can't I help a little smile every time I see it...Sigh. Bad boy!ops:
I agree, definitely not as amusing the second time around, and probably not good for the BABB, if this person is over there stirring the pot, in the name of the BABB.Originally Posted by Comixx

I agree with you. But the only trouble is, how do we know it's someone from here? We already know that GLP is self-trolling to a high degree. If only one of their trolls has noticed the recent Defcon2 between BABB and GLP, then they have a great opportunity. Starting a cross-group war is troll heaven.Originally Posted by Comixx
Actually, my thoughts on trolling are not confined to an us-vs-them concept...I dont approve of ANY kind of trolling...it's rude and counter-productive to the purpose of these informational kind of message boards.
Anyways, I didnt read the messages, I never click on Godlike links, so I may have a faulty assumption that the poster is trolling, when they could just be counter-arguing in a factual and logical manner. In which case, that is fine...it's the deliberate pushing of buttons that sets me on edge...
Try telling them that. Some of them think that if PX doesn't get us, Mars will.Originally Posted by ObiWan377

Heck the moon is closer. Doesn't anyone have a cult out there about the moon crashing into the earth?
Some of them were getting freaked by this photo:Originally Posted by pixelator

Is the moon getting closer? Hmmm.... I havent noticed personally, but then maybe that is because it is doing it gradually.
Did any one see the remake of "The Time Machine"? The bit where the Moon is breaking up is amazing!!
There were a couple of Bad Astronomy threads on it over in the 'No Doughnut' subject area. Biggest problem seems to be that a measly 20 megaton nuclear blast seems to have 1) broken the Moon up 2) moved the orbit closer to Earth (judging from the angular size) and 3) changed the orbital plane (it's nearly at the zenith in New York). That's a lot of work for one nuke to do. (Oh - and when we see the fragments in the future, the Moon seems to have got back to its old orbit - to my eye at least)Originally Posted by purplekitten
But this is a bit churlish. I also have to agree with you that it's an amazing scene, though I thought the movie as a whole to be flawed.
That little thing? That's no moon. Now this, this is a moon!Originally Posted by ToSeek

I put a disclaimer in it for those few out there without clues. 8)
Pretty impressive pixelator! You get the coveted "Wolf" Award of Excellence for that![]()
Thanks. I really like those photos Wolf does. Pretty neat.
Although as a fake, mine is pretty easy to spot. The light on the moon is all wrong. It should be coming from the top left to fit the shadow beneath, but then you would only see a black circle in the photo. Artistic license.
But I figured I better put a "this is a fake" on it just incase some planet x guy decided this was proof that planet X is going to hit us any second now.
Good idea, Nancy might use it otherwise ..
Sort of sad when we have to label obvious fantasy pictures "fake."
It is but that's the state of Nancy's movement, grab at straws
