    Location, Location, Location

Actually, this has nothing to do with a fundamental theory of success in business, but rather, the location of the General Science forum who's purpose is: "From aardvarkology to zymurgism, anything scientific that isn't astronomy can be discussed here."

Yet the parent forum is Space and Astronomy, with a topic rule of, "From here to infinity: we cover a lot of ground (and sky) in these fora."

Wouldn't this be better situated in either the General section?

    Just curious...

But if you want to discuss Marketing theory, here's your chance.

I would just say that the parent forum is misnamed. I consider General Science one of the "real" forums here, as contrasted with the "meta" and "off-topic" forums, which are in the General area, and the focused Bad Astronomy and University Today parent forums.

Fora? Fori is the plural of forum. English strikes again!

That's Latin "striking" there. If we do it in English, the plural is "forums".

    No, it's Latin.

I don't see any definitive references. However, I did find the following:

The plural in Latin of forum is not fori. Fori is the singular genitive. The nominative (and accusative) plural of forum is indeed fora.

For nouns, Latin dictionaries usually give the nominative and genitive singulars, so that students will know what declension the noun is in.

Fori identifies forum as being a noun of the second declension. This affects the way the other cases are formed. But nearly all neuter nouns, of all declensions, take the "a" as the ending in the nominative/accusative plural.

In Latin, the plural is "fora", because the noun "forum" follows the second type of declension and has neutral gender. For this type of declension, you have a nominative singular neutral noun ending in "-um", and its corresponding nominative plural ends in "-a".
    ...

"Fori" is always incorrect, regardless of whether it's Latin or English.

I would argue that forum is decidedly an english word, though it comes from the latin.

It all depends on how you want to look at it though.

Sure, but the plural "fora" comes through the Latin; if you follow strictly English laws of pluralization, it's "forums." Which, frankly, looks and sounds weird to me.

LOL - now that we know how messed up all languages are compared to one another...

What's the liklihood of getting the parent forum renamed?

I hate to stir the pot, but... it should be Romani. Plural of the second declension masculine Romanus. Substantive adjective meaning Roman (citizen).

I'm somehow reminded of this (or you can look here if you'd rather just read a transcript).
