I got up at 4.45 this morning to watch the solar eclipse. The eclipse was at its maximum at the point of sunrise, which made the event even more special. I took some great pictures that I will post here as soon as I find a working scanner :P.

I missed it! Why didnt anyone tell me???
Aaaargh... no I have to wait 100 years 'til next time.
I hate it, i plan to just smash my head into the wall for a hour or two![]()
I found out about this eclipse about a week ago, while i planned my visit to the August 1999 eclipse months in advance. I guess the newspapers figured that not a lot of people would find it interesting enough to get up at dawn :P.
You know, you can actually travel somewhere else and see an eclipse every couple of years if you want. This wasn't even a total eclipse.Originally Posted by aldibo

aldibo, the next solar eclipse is the 23rd of November, 2003. The only problem is you have to be in Antarctica to see it. Don't worry about it. You can see a total eclipse in 2006, provided you can go to Northern Africa, or you can see another in 2017 in North America.
There's one in 2015 that you can see from Svalbard. The one in 2006 actually cuts across Africa, Turkey, and central Asia, so you have some options there.
