HEAVEN'S GATE II: THE PLANET X CULT
Truth Be Told, USA (Skeptic Wire) - Nancy Lieder, who claims that a
"Planet X" will destroy the Earth on May 15th, 2003, sounds like a
female version of Marshall Applewhite with a continuing prediction of
impending doom and an object approaching Earth.
Applewhite was the leader of the Heaven's Gate Cult which committed mass
suicide in Rancho Santa Fe, California(an upscale suburb of San Diego)
on the evening of March 26th, 1997 and were discovered in the early
morning hours of March 27th by police officers who were tipped off to
the suicides by former members.
The cult believed that a UFO was following the Hale-Bopp Comet and it
was a signal that the Earth would soon be "recycled"(destroyed) and the
era of human beings was at an end. Obsessed with Star Wars, Star Trek
and various other science fiction programs and movies, the Heaven's Gate
cult was totally unable to tell the difference between fiction and
reality.
Applewhite and his cult believed that they would rise to a level beyond
human when they shed their containers, a cryptic reference to suicide.
The cult committed mass suicide by eating poison applesauce after they
covered themselves in purple shrouds and wore black Nike shoes. Among
the more bizzare beliefs of the Heaven's Gate cult was the idea of alien
hybrids aboard the UFO and castration of male members of the cult.
The cult became aware of the Hale Bopp comet and the supposed "UFO"
after listening to frauds like Chuck Shramek and Courtney Brown claiming
that an object was following the Hale-Bopp Comet on the nationally
syndicated Coast to Coast AM hosted by Art Bell. Although Bell later
did a show claiming the "object" was a fake, the damage was already done
to the Heaven's Gate cult, who were true believers in the "UFO", when
they killed themselves.
Now we fast forward to 2002 and Nancy Lieder. Lieder claims to be an
enhanced alien contactee, believes in reincarnation, believes an object
is approaching Earth and believes that the majority of people on Earth
will be destroyed. All of these beliefs are personal belief traits
shared by the deceased Marshall Applewhite. Lieder also uses phrases
like "incarnate into a hybrid body after we die", a phrase that's very
similar allegorically to Applewhites "shedding containers"; both of
which are cryptic references to suicide.
In an eerie parallel to the build up of the Hale-Bopp fiasco and the
Heaven's Gate suicides, Lieder has been claiming that a planet called
"Planet X", which is based on an ancient Sumerian belief that a planet
approaches the Earth every 3600 years, will approach the Earth and
destroy civilization. With her website,

Lieder has been actively recruiting members for her "Planet X Cult" by
needlessly scaring people with doom and gloom.
Lieder has been shamefully taking advantage of "post-Sept 11th" fears
by spreading hysteria and paranoia about this fictional Planet X
approaching the Earth. With the thousands of people who have been
defending her ludicrous claims, she's doing a better job at scaring
people than Osama Bin Laden.
Lieder even goes as far to claim the government, all scientists, the
mass media and observatories are covering up "Planet X" so she can
project an image of credibility to a gullible audience who follows her
every word. This one of the main traits of cult brainwashing; any
thought or idea outside the paradigm of the cult is a lie. With her
website and appearances on the radio, Lieder is performing cult
brainwashing on a massive scale to millions of potential cult members.
Although Lieder claims she's not recruiting followers, this is a total
bald faced lie based on her actions.
With a lot of traits similar to Heaven's Gate, it's only a matter of
time before Lieder gives the order to thousands of true believers to
commit mass suicide just before the fictional Planet X fails to arrive
so she'll protect her credibility with her brainwashed followers.
Lieders cult brainwashing with fear and hysteria is a form of mental
terrorism and she should be arrested by the authorities before thousands
of innocent and gullible people are intimidated into committing mass
suicide.
