MoD defends psychic powers study (UK)

    As reported on the BBC

The Ministry of Defence has defended a decision to carry out tests to find out whether psychic powers could be used to detect hidden objects.
    I like this bit

most subjects produced guesses that were not close to the correct answer and one subject even fell asleep while he tried to focus on the envelope's content.
    italics mine

She added: "The study concluded that remote viewing theories had little value to the MoD and was taken no further."

Well, now we know what the Mod's thinking. I wonder what the Rockers' opinion is?

    Oh, the Minister of Defense.

    OK.

One wonders if that particular "psychic" had fallen asleep taking the JREF challenge, would he have been required to pay Randi some kind of prize moneys?

...involved blind-folding volunteers and asking them about the contents of sealed brown envelopes...defence experts attempted to recruit 12 "known" psychics...when they all refused..."novice" volunteers were drafted in...commercial researchers were contracted at a cost of £18,000 to test them...
    Should'a called the Psychic Hotline!

They should have consulted with a certain planetary geometrics expert, who could have anticipated connections between the envelopes and current events.

    LoL.

"I see three folds in the envelope. Envelope has 8 letters in it. 3 + 8 is 11. So there will be a news story sometimes between 3/8 and 3/11 of this year!"

    I like the number-predict-thingy. It's easy.

Funny how no one seems to complain when taxpayers' money is spent on this sort of thing.

Good to know that the Ministry of Defense is doing it's job. (Or is the use of defence in that title less general than I'm thinking? )

They were trying to sense dirty magazines?

Thanks farmerjumperdon I am inspired by your confidence but this is not my area either. Also I have no greater luck at casinos either. If anything a gift for giving them my money.

I have had some small lotto prizes but that is because of persistence.

Has anyone tried the concentrate on a static screen yet to try and influence the movement of it. If it works I would love to know if it is a perceptual thing because I have only rare dreams and need to work on understanding observation..

    Cheers

I knew what was in each envelope, just as I know what's going to happen in 28 minutes - but I can't tell you because it would cause a huge time rift and wipe out all life on Mars.

Oh. wait.. I'm on Earth?!?!? and it's WHEN???

    uh-oh
