    Rocket Man

Forgive if there's been a thread on this movie before, but I find the movie hilarious. Oh sure, it has bad astronomy and science out the...not sure if the "w" word is allowed here, but since it's not meant to be taken seriously by any stretch of the imagination, it doesn't bother me. After all, novels such as The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy contain all manner of impossible things, yet few complain about that.

I gave it a nomination in the best sci-fi comedy thread. Although hardly highbrow comedy, I did find the training sequences amusing. The John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt song in the isolation chamber part gets me every time.

I found it interesting how the camera would just happen to center itself on the female star's breasts in many scenes. It's as if the camera operator became distracted and couldn't help focusing on them.

I also found it interesting how the American government concluded the Nazis were planning to invade America using rocketpack equiped soliders on account of how they found a cartoon. One can only assume that the Nazi's concluded that the Americans were planning to attack them with a with a costumed super alien from Krypton from watching their cartoons.

Must... resist urge... to make... current political joke... about American intelligence... Phew! I did it! Thank you William Shatner.

Oh dear....I think you're mixing up Rocket Man and The Rocketeer. Not the first time that's happened.

Ah, I see. And now I've just admitted that I've actually sat through The Rocketeer. How embarrassing.

Heh. I actually own The Rocketeer! (I'm the one who mixed 'em up in the other thread.)

    I really enjoyed the Rocketer.......

Anywayhow, are we talking about RocketMan 1997 "He's just taking up space"

Because if we are, I'm pretty tempted to never watch that simply from the cover illustration/cartoon!

Or are we talking abot 'Rocket Man' with Robson Green?
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/rocketman.shtml
(George Stephenson loses his job in a Railway Carriage works, then loses his wife; the drama concerns his attempts to build a rocket to launch her ashes into space).

Actually I haven't watched it; I am not that keen on Robson Green myself, but don't let me put you off...
