Thread: Does Schumann Resonance exists

    Does Schumann Resonance exists

The Schumann Resonance seems to be a very low frequency electromagnetic wave that propagates in the spherical waveguide formed by the earth and the ionosphere. Even if from an electromagnetic point of view this does not seems to be absurd All information I find on it seems unreliable or even clearly hoax. So my question is: does it exists and if yes how do I measure it.

I do hope they exist, otherwise some people here at my instute are working for nothing :-)

Take a look at the following papers:
    - Morente et al (J. of Geophys. Res., 2004) Do Schumann resonances depend on altitude
    - Molina-Cuberos et al. (Radio Science, 2006) Schumann resonances as a tool to study the lower ionosphere structure of Mars

There are more papers, naturally, but these are two references that I could come up with rather quickly. A quick search on ADS gives this list of reliable, peer-reviewed papers.

Yes, Schumann resonance exists, but it's importance is seriously over-rated by the woo woo people. Neil

Never heard of Schumann Resonance until I read it here in this thread 15 minutes ago. Looked it up on the 'net. Wiki and other places. Wow, major woo potential here. (Did you know that besides all its mundane functions Schumann Resonance is also: A cage that holds the spirits of the departed on Earth, the way Atlanteans communicated with other peoples, a way to "stick it" to Big Oil, a shield that keeps non-corporeal alien intelligences at bay, and AND I tell you, possibly the very brainwaves of the planet Earth Herself...all that from friction induced static. Why the mind just bogles. I'm going to bed now.

My favourite WooWoo part is that apparently the Schumann resonance frequency is decreasing, and when it gets to zero, that will be the end of the Earth!
