    How do you say BAUT?

I was surprised to hear Phil's pronunciation of our favorite acronym in his recent video blog posting. How do you pronounce it?

I missed it--how did Phil say it?

Edit: Oh, yeah--99% of the time, I call it "the board."

    sounds like 'short'

just like baud on the good ole' modems. Rhymes with out, indeed. Or just like the last part of "about". That is option 2, I assume? Well, actually I give it a flat Flemish pronounciation on top of that.

(in my English, bought doesn't really rhyme with hot anyway )

Me, too. But do you say it like we Americans say "out" or like those Canadians say it?

Say what now? I don't think I've ever heard "baud" pronounced to rhyme with "out" - "baud" is more like "bawd" than "boud".

    Isn't it?

    Hum,
i thought it rhymed with the phrase "Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!"

But now that i think about it, it appears to sound more like "but"

Not that I ever say it, out loud.

I say it to myself in my head, when nobody else is listening; and in my head it is pronounced like naught

    Boo-hoo, languages.

Well, it's a baut as in out, but flat. I don't know how you pronounce baud, but it sounds like a flat b+out to me . Not like bawd .

    Never mind

Once Ari punned us with "aBAUT", it was set from then on for me.

I say 'BAUT' like 'hot', or, more fitting, astronaut.

Option 2 for me. The lovely thing about acronyms, isn't it? Never meant to be a word, but once seen often enough, it enters the consciousness as one.

Option 2 as well, like "about" without the "a."

Right now it's the third option, but, I suspect that if I decide to spend more time here it will become the second.

Like astronaut. Also rhymes with hot. The discrepancy surprises me in this poll.

I like to say "bought". Usually though I just refer to it as The Board.
