I was just wondering if there is a way to post equations at this forum. Its only of use to me if there is.
tex?
HTML?
E2 = (pc)2 + (mc2)2 = (<FONT FACE=SYMBOL>g</FONT>mc2)2

Nope, no greek - not good enough. I suggest getting a latex generator so people like me interested in real physics discussion might come here.
There is also this thread from the About BAUT section
How to use Greek Letters
I'm Not Evil.
An evil person would do the things that pop into my head.
Ok, that will work, thanks.
Um, what? Gotta admit, pretty gutzy of you haveing but 6 posts under ur belt coming here and telling admins how to run the place :-p. I think you'll find if you ask, and are patient enough for an answer, most people will quite willingly help. And as far as functionality, these forums work great.
That's why, according to this years blog awards, BAUT is the best (non-cepholopod related) science site! Yes, this is a title I awarded myself, as it was really runner up in best science catagory, but that's still quite an acomplishment.
Happy BAUTing!
I didn't tell them how to run anything. I suggested a latex generator and said that I would like to post here but only if I could post equations.
Actually, what you said was:
my bold
"Not good enough" and "people like me interested in real physics discussion" sort of comes off, to me, as if you don't consider a "real" discussion possible in this forum, as it does not meet your standards for utility. It also implies that those that do post here are not interested in a "real" discussion. That may not have been the intent, but that was how I took it.
It also looks to me like I was not alone in that interpretation.![]()

Well, I personally do most of my physics sans math . I find it simplifies things quite a bit. (yes, this is a joke).
But really, this is an astronomy forum. how closely related is physics anyway? (...and yes, this is another joke).
and for the hat-trick:
If this site DID indeed have a latex generator, it would certianly cut down on my and the g/f's monthly bills. (lame, i know. but all my jokes are).
