First view of Venus. Last day of 2006.

I saw venus last night for the first time this evening apparition. A little after 6 pm CST. About 3-5 degrees above the SW horizon. I'm sure I could have seen it a few days earlier, but it has been rainy and cloudy all last week.

You mean first time through a scope? It's a bright sucker, for sure. Shame about all those clouds. You could see some great detail if it wasn't 100% cloud covered.

He said first time this apparition. Which means since it recently moved away from the sun.
