My first M42 of this year

Here is my first attempt at M42 this year. I need to add more data to get better SN ratio and cut down the noise in the faint "brown" portions of the nebula. Also, I need some shorter exposures for better core detail. Maybe I'll rotate the camera? Still, not a bad start I think..............

    Comment/criticisms always are welcome.

    Best,
    Tom

Excellent picture. If I could ever take one half as good I'd be like a dog with two tails

very nice..and what a wide field of view, Running Man picked up in the same image as M42/43... that's common for DSLR not so for a CCD image..guess that's what's special about an ST 11

Yeah, rotating the camera would have really improved that shot. A little more purple coloring, too...

    (Kidding, of course.)

Seriously, it's a beautiful and sumptuous photo of M42. When Hubble dies, we'll just beam you up. Looking forward to the second "attempt" of the year...

Wow! Great picture. So with a camera like that do you not use an eyepiece?
one more dumb question. What does 40:40:40 min. mean?
