    Lincolnshire meteorite smashed through window

A Newsome couple cheated death in a close encounter with a meteorite!

Chris Nolan and his wife Julie were relaxing on holiday in Lincolnshire when the rock plummeted to earth, crashing through their caravan window.
Mr Nolan, a psychiatric nurse at St Luke's Hospital, said when they found the meteorite it was still hot and reeked of sulphur.

Heh, it still amazes me no one's been killed by one yet. I think the worst so far is a guy who ended up with a pretty nice bruise on his chest from one piling in, but with the possible exception of Tunguska, nothing nasty yet.

    Absolutely amazing.

Doodler. I'm pretty sure a monk was killed in Italy..Cremona.. while walking with companions, when struck by a meteorite, though the exact source temporarily eludes me. I'll check. Pete.

Interesting reading. Foolish to have forgotten Tunguska, but then I was thinking about direct hits when I posted. The only ones I had read about were non-lethal until now.

Don't you think these close encounters with meteorites are wasted on non amateur astronomers? We would appeciate the experience so much more than anyone else. LOLOL
