My understanding is that it was a mutual agreement between him and one of the mods. He'll be back on October 15th by his statements, but the suspension ends in 30 days, so he could come back sooner if he changes his mind.

There's now a post which gives a reason.
Jerry's not gone (far from it!), rather he's taking leave of BAUT to do some other work. When he returns - around the middle of October - he will address the open questions in the Jerry Jensen's ATM idea thread, and once he's done that, he will be back posting elsewhere in BAUT.

Well, given that that's after Nobel Prize season do you think he'll tell us which Nobel winner he thinks is at risk of having his prize revoked (per his thread in the Conspiracy section)? He's told me via PM, but I figured I'd let him announce it publicly. Maybe I'll break the "news" in early October.
