When British Labour Party leader Hugh Gaitskell, and likely future PM, died in 1963, there was talk that his lupus had been chemically induced by the KGB. Can it be done?

I'm not familiar with the case of the British Labour party fellow, but apparently poisoning was used during the Ukranian elections. I guess this sort of thing is a real possibility.
