Thread: Constellation of Orion

    Constellation of Orion

First light (quick & dirty) with a new scope I have had since Dec last. I tried it out on a new EQ6 SkyScan mount, which I had roughly lined up with a compass & level. The scope is a Takahashi Epsilon 180ED f/2.8 Astrograph.
Image at prime focus with a Nikon D100 3x 30 seconds and 1 x 20 seconds, stacked in Images Plus.

Sorry-my satellite connection went off at the critical moment and pictures did not load.

    I don't see a photo file or a URL for a photo.

Kidding. Next time wait until sun goes down. Picture is too similar to Baut Blue background.

That seems to be the "hot" scope as of late. I'm sure you will really enjoy it.

    Hello All
Many thanks for the kind words and ecouragement to do more. I am thinking of buying the Canon EOS 350D to use as my astro DSLR. There are protocols and a lot of support for this camera in Images Plus, and cable mods etc. Anyone got a comment to add re Nikon versus Canon. The Nikon D100 is not supported and is a camera I have not seen metioned for astro work.

I don't know about the EOS 350D, but Wolverine showed me the EOS 20D. This camera looks so good you don't even have to be there! It's out of my price range though. You can look at the Canon site I linked, but I searched for 350D and didn't find it. BTW, that EOS 20D apparently takes great pictures. Ask Wolverine.
