Came home and saw that I was still logged in to BAUT, and I can't log out. It goes through the same motions as always, but will still show me active when I return to the index. How do I deal with this? I don't want to be perpetually logged in.

The last thing I know a lot about is computers, but perhaps in your profile you have checked some sort of "always log me in when I get here" or some such thing, so that as soon as you log out, it detects that you are here, not logged in, and automatically logs you in. I know I haver have to log in because at some point I told the system it would be OK to log me in when I get here. And I don't think I have ever looged out anyway, when i go offline, I figure it assumes I am dead and gives up. Or perhaps I remain logged in even though I am no longer on line. SInce the computer is off and the dialup disconnected, I surely don't care.
I think this comes back to the Remember Me function. If you've checked that, it always remembers you, via your IP, whenever you navigate around these pages. Although, I don't have a problem logging out if I want to. Curious.
I think it actually remembers you via your cookies, not your ip.
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.
That's very unusual. You're clicking the "Log out" button on the toolbar?
It did feel like Hotel California. That has never happened before. Fraser, of course I was hitting logout on the toolbar--I always log out after I post. I even tried restarting my PC, tried signing in and out again--everything. Enzp, there's nothing in the User CP that keeps you logged in, nor have I touched my Options, just the signature and profile. Normally, after you log out you get the "All Cookies Cleared" and then I see my name is no longer active. I would get "All Cookies Cleared" but it wouldn't log me out--I'd still show active on the index. I always click the Remember Me button when posting, so that has nothing to do with logging out when one hits Logout.
So, I viewed my cookies and deleted those for 3/6/06 since it happened today and there was a cookie for bautforum for 3/6/06, and another one with some ISP # I need to investigate. Deleted just those cookies and that worked. I should have copied the bautforum cookie to show you, but I thought of that after I deleted it.![]()
That was freaky, and I wonder why it happened just today. It wasn't an issue at work, just on my PC at home. I don't feel trapped now, so it's all good.

Hmm and just last night we started watching .hack//sign where somebody has this problem in a virtual reality RPG.
I'm somewhat concerned how this cookie happened. I didn't do anything different than before and I was logging in and out no problem all weekend. If it happens again I'll investigate it further. I couldn't resolve the other cookie with the mysterious IP# in my IP finder.![]()
I had the same "problem" a day or 2 ago...I thought it was just my MSNTV2 "wonking out" on me.![]()
