    How do you pronounce Fomalhaut?

I just made Hubble's image of Fomalhaut's "Eye of Sauron" my wallpaper and, when trying to explain to someone else what it was, tangled my tongue trying to pronounce it right.

One of the most varied star name in orthology known to man, originally from Arabic: Fum al Hut, the best rendering, I suppose is Pham Al Hoot.

According to astronomyclub.org Say What?, and Astronomical League Astronomical Pronouciation Guide, and others:

    FO-mal-ought

Acoording to Earth & Sky Star Pronounciation Guide:

    FO-mal-oh

According to Sandburg Center for Sky Awareness A Skywatcher's Pronunciation Guide:

    foo-mal-HOUT

Take your pick. There's probably more out there.

Since Fomalhaut is a name stemming from the Arabic, and Arabic has a more or less direct relationship between written and spoken vowels (like Japanese or Spanish, but unlike English), my advice to the English speaker would be to try to preserve the written vowels as much as possible - under this view, 01101001's last example would come closest, the ou of Fo - mal - HOUT pronounced as in stout and shout(mimicking an actual a-u diphthong), not as in brought or thought. The h should be pronounced, too.

I've heard both the last and the first syllable being stressed, but never the last.
