I gave myself 20 minutes, and scored 26. So if we define "genius" as "pretty skilled at meaningless tests", then I can feel pretty good about myself.
The apostrophe police needs to have a little talk with them about number 24.

Or the feeling you get when you get ToSeeked, hey Taks? *snicker*
oops... either we were posting at the same time or i just missed the darned thing.
oh, btw, this isn't american english, it is british english. we don't ever refer to it as a pack of cards over here.

I have 23 without assistance -- 21 of them within 30 minutes.
I also have 2 more that fit, and are technically correct and accurate, but incorrect according to MENSA. These are #14 and #20. I'll edit later with my versions. Both actually have several "correct" answers.
I spent about 40 minutes. I have to give up, now.
I also found the answers here, ha ha! www.chesskit.com/miscellaneous/quiz.php
OK, i just got 8, but i went through it kind a fast. I will do it again later see if i get more. I am still happy with 8...........
Titana.
21 after an hour and a half, but I saw you guys mentioning South Africa, so 20 might be more acccurate score.
The test is biased period, (Country, language orientated). These type of questions have also been used in trival quiz nights.
Sites providing an insight or solutions to these "language equations" are:

So, what we learn from this thread is that all BAUTers are above average.
Even with assistance, I can't figure out #19 and #31.
With #24 I seem to have a problem with spelling.
28 no help.
Got them all with the answer sight though.
I figured out thirty in thirty minutes. I spotted a bible and a sports theme, which helped me on some, though. And then if you count a dictionary as cheating, I only got 27...
Dad didn't know what the heck I was doing. He thought I was taking an internet acronym quiz.

That's not necessarily true, though. 50% are below the median, but the average could be elsewhere.Originally Posted by Taks

given that IQ is assumed a gaussian distribution, the median and mean (average) are the same value.Originally Posted by SeanF

PS: in practice, however, the distribution is not really gaussian, partly because there is no upper limit but there is a lower limit (rician), and also partly because at the high and low ends there are anomalies...
I'm at 29. I got one from the South africa comment though. I'm hung up on 8, 14, 24, and 31. But I'm watching the Brothers Grimm too, so I'm not timing myself.
I'm Not Evil.
An evil person would do the things that pop into my head.
I've currently got 22/33 but determined to get more![]()
21 the first time through in about 10 minutes...
Now, on to the tough ones.
I started this last night, but it's too draining for my brain. I began looking up stuff after 17, so best to not record my final score of 31.![]()
25/33
Still working on it...
Edit: 26/33

Yes. Spelling has nothing to do with intelligence. Intelligence has to do with how tall you were as a child.Originally Posted by mickal555

26 without help.. somebody's comment on the difference between 'pack' and 'deck' (I use 'deck', here in the states, too) cleared one up.
Poking at others...
hrm.. to judge by other comments, maybe I should know more about South Africa...
