Moon landing being a hoax... and ... clipart!

Heyos. Josh is forcing me to share a funny joke strip with y'all from the comic strip Partially Clips. Who am I to go against the word of a Moderator? He scares me, too.

    This is the linkie:

    Enjoy!

(This seemed a more appropriate section to post this than the Off-Topic Babbling).

    What, you being scary?

    Oh, the clipart! Right!

Actually, this brings up an honest question. Are US citizens more prone to believe in the hoax than the rest of the world? No disrespect to the OP, I get the joke.... Just something that the comic strip triggered.

The reason is, of course, improper use of statistiscs

    I don;t think it's a USA only problem, Arena.

Someone came over to my place last week. I had a book of hubble photos on the coffee table. A bunch of us were sitting around talking and the moon came up. One girl said "Did you know that the moon landing was a hoax?" ... there was silence and everyone else looked at me waiting for a response. Needless to say that she was soon re-educated.

The conversation that ensued did, however, bring up some interesting points. A lot of the people there believed that consipracies were rife. That JFK was the victim of a mafia plot, that aliens landed, that the deaths of Biggy Smalls and Tupac were orchestrated by the US government to keep "black america" in check, that the Pentagon and WTC were either staged or carried out by the USA, etc etc.

Now, why does there seem to be more and more distrust of authority out there? Are more people spouting these because of things like the internet and therefore more people have better access to these "theories"?

Very unlikely. Josh is from Melbourne, Australia, and therefore can't be an American Dad.

Oh, please! All you needed to do was take a quick hop in your time machine. Yeesh.

I say there is an invisible elf in my backyard. How do you prove that I am wrong?

Everyone knows that the US base at the South Pole is protecting a time portal. He just slipped down to the base, passed through the portal and was airlifted to Dallas. He's the perfect man, being born 14 years later means no chance of his meeting himself and being from Australia he can't mess up his own past.

That sounds about right. It's pretty obvious all he had to do was identify himself as an astronomer in order to travel to Antarctica unnoticed. He probably blended in seamlessly with the thousands already there.

Of course, wearing a tuxedo helped him march straight through in a completely different way...

    Sorry about the delay..... [work]

Well, something like that. I only know one person [a co-worker] who believes in the hoax, but read of lots of poeople who do [on sites like this one]. So the setup [for me] is kinda askew.
