Got a couple of questions here:
Not too long ago, I saw a program about the research made to investigate gamma ray bursts. It mentioned they are created by massive stars that erupt into hypernova and immediately produce a singularity. This causes the burst.
My question is, are their other sources of gamma ray bursts besides hypernova, such as large amounts of matter falling into a singularity or on to a neutron star (as an earlier theory suggested)?
Also, could the massive star Eta Carinae become a hypernova?
