Need Advice on Astrophotography with LXD75

I have a Meade LXD75 and would like to take astro photos. Should I use a 35 SLR mm piggy back or buy a CDD camera? I am a newbie at astrophotography. Any inputs and insights would be greatly appreciated.

One advantage of piggy backing wide angle views is that it is more forgiving of inaccurate alignment or gear sloppiness than a through-the-telescope image.
