Another article about giant and colossal squids, whose existence was confirmed decades ago. Some researchers have even been trying to raise juvenile giant squid in captivity, but without much success. The article also discusses the problems researchers have been having trying to film giant squids so this video is a major breakthrough.

The taste reminded them of ammonia, a strong-smelling substance. They tested the tissue and found a lot of ammonia. They think that ammonia makes the giant squid less dense than seawater, so it won't sink. It can easily stay at a good level for finding food without constantly swimming and wasting its energy

You know--If I had to have a violent death--I'd want to be on some documentary being pulled over board by one--on camera. Beats having someone pop a cap in me and dying as another murder statistic.
Then too--it probably wouldn't feel too good getting torn apart by what is essentially a giant face-hugger.

Cephalopod intelligence has been noted by scientists. I saw a documentary on Discovery where a biologist was holding up patterns in front of a cuttlefish, and the cuttlefish repeated the patterns on its skin. Amazing.
Giant squids? Their brains must be massive. No wonder they hide from humans so cleverly.
Maybe they have cities at the bottom of the Marianas Trench... ha...

and to think we have also destroyed alot of their breeding ground with bottom troling... thus soon... there may be no squid to see..

I'd hate to be in the water with it. So here is the Kraken. I could buy the cryptid claims of large ocean creatures more so than others. I wonder if we will see other, larger creatures below...
