So I'm apparently a senior member

What does this mean? I also see we have buddy lists and ignore lists. How does that work?

    Cool

Congrats. Don't look so glom. This is good.

So long as you enjoy a thankless task offering no pay.

Atleast you won't get email bombed by luddites every other fortnight.

Buddy lists are like friends lists. Ignore probably makes certain peoples posts invisible.

Personally I like knowing what people are saying about me. Helps me in formulating a comeback.

What does the buddy list actually do? How do you find out who's on who's buddy list?

No idea. Anti-christ's have no buddies. I think you can add people to your list and then they get a message telling them or something like that. Never use any of that high tech stuff.

Hi Glom, perhaps being a senior member is like being a senior citizen?
Hey you may be entitled to a discount in the gift shop!

Hmmm, in the ignore function are the sections of the ignored poster's text blocked out when quoted by another poster?

Also, somehow I'm a senior member (probably a no. of posts thing).

On JREF, the comments of an ignored person who is quoted are visible. I assume it will be the same here.

Edit: I looked throught the memberlist. Senior Members have more than 100 posts. A "Member" has 30-99 posts, and junior members have less than 0-29 posts. There are also "Members", not "Member" that are spread throughout the memberlist. They might be users that were on the UT board only.

We're going to be rebuilding the posting ranks to something more appropriate. It's on the to-do list, somewhere in between sleep and eat. ;-)

I just wanted to see what kind of member I am over here.

I just got high speed!!! No more crappy dial up!

It's taking me a while to get used to the site, as I'm from Bad Astronomy...

We're using different software from both UT and BA, just to put everyone on an equally awkward footing.

As a fellow *Senior* Member, let me say that it is clear that seniority is now based upon the quality of one's posts, as it should be. And I think we *Senior* members have a responsibilty to our more junior members to guide and shape in the ways of rightful thinking. Perhaps we could chat about this over a drink at the Senior Member's Club.

    RBG ;^)

Amen to that, RGB. Responsibility. Also, let's have a private section for senior members, with Senior-Member-Only access.

This is obviously not correct as I'm a senior memeber, which shoots your theory out of the water. ;-)

Hmm...apparently, my UT posts haven't carried over....

    Help, anyone? (Fraser...?)

  19. #19
I just have to rebuilt the post counts again. All the UTers reset when I reimported the astrophotography section and all its attachments. I can't stress this enough... Ignore the post counts for now.

I find out that I too am a senior member. I already get senior discounts at restaurants, so hopefully I will net some benefits here. Of course at Denny's all they do is give you less and lop a little off the price. And you're still at Denny's.
