Being a programmer, I just remember it as hex 69 (0x69) which is 01101001 in binary.

I'm not nearly so fortunate! I had to resort to meticulous research and painstaking effort to discern that fact shortly after I joined.

Actually, I spent 20 seconds pulling up Windows Calculator, clicking the Bin button, typing in his name, then clicking on Oct (151), Dec (105), and finally Hex to find it's equivalent.

I thought 151 was it (it's a type of liquor), but when I saw it was 69 in Hex, I thought that might be the second answer.

Thus, until 01101001 himself confirms one way or the other, the answer could be Octal or Hexidecimal.

He has already explained his id, but it was quite a while ago. It is his interest in palindromes (I think) - and he is quite good at making them. He made one for my wife's name (attached below). His profile has some more info.

Exactly, add that to the end of 01101001 to get 0110100110010110, which is the next iteration.

He has explained before, it's the Thue-Morse sequence, thus binary.

01101001's avatar is another example of his work. It's pretty cool. He did one for my name in this post:

Naturally. However, I was referring to the oct, hex, and dec equivalents, of which two (151 and 69) are... Let me put it this way - I'd believe a coincidence of one interesting number. Two of them begins to stretch my willingness to believe it's merely coincidence.

    I knew of Thue-Morse sequences.

Checking his posting record, he's been down to a couple of posts/week, and last post januari 20th. No cause for alarm just yet, I think, but your concern is shared.

Call off the search party. Give the dogs a squeaky toy. I'm OK. It's just that in these awkward financial times sometimes The Man makes you do your job as well as those of former coworkers. I sure miss those people.

    Sort of a newbie...

I suppose I qualify as a "newbie", in a way. I posted for a few days (maybe up to a couple of weeks or so) back around the beginning of 2008, but haven't been back since (until now, for those who might be wondering and confused).

So, assuming I qualify to post here, I will. I'm from Elkhart, Indiana (U.S.A.) - born, raised, and living in. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics, with a Minor in Computer Science, from the previous Millennium. I also have a little more than 25% of a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science degree completed (though I haven't taken a course since the Spring semester of 2006 [life, and finances, not cooperating]). And my age varies.

I was being polite, and tried to give a little positive feedback. I don't remember you, and now I'll have to click your name and look at older posts to see if I should have
