    Thanks! I'll try that.

  3. Smile Hello!

    Hello!

I'm new here. I'm a 27 year old call-center employee from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film (yeah, I know...), but more importantly, I have an honorary doctorate in Buying A Telescope.

I look forward to learning a lot from people who better spent their time in University or those of you who've done their time learning informally about astronomy via message-boarding.

It might be too late for me to take the academic route to astronomical enlightenment, but it's not too late for me to impress my girlfriend.

Like Mark Twain said to the Decepticons; "I never let my schooling get in the way of my education."

    So, hook me up, BAUT.

Hello everyone. This is my first post here and hopefully the first of many. Bear with me here as much of this is new to me--the posting I mean. Astronomy and Physics have been lifelong interests so I hope to find this experience stimulating!

Word of warning; I tried this tactic. My g/f just looks at me like "You were talking about what? Man, you're a dork. Now be quiet, Project Runway's on!"

Anyway, Welcome to BAUT. Also, welcome to Westy1947 and Fornax

I have no idea what I just ate.
There it was, upon my plate.
Whether plant or animal, I dared not contemplate.
But I did not want to judge an unknown state.
Sadly, as soon as it hit my pate...
I knew this was not love; it was hate.

Apparently, my food requires (required? Too late now...) introduction.

But you know... This is EXACTLY a big part of why I've been taking a break from BAUT.

Of course, you can always suspend me for my Heinous crime.

  14. #2084
Hello people! I joined a short while ago and read about posting a self-portrait but couldn't see where the Introductory thread was, so didn't. As you can read, I have now found it! Like Hanny I am an active member of Galaxy Zoo and saw a suggestion to look at this forum in there, so here I be. I'm an Englander, born and bred in Manchester and still living here. Not the best place for star-gazing first-hand, but it's amazing what one can see in pictures these days.

I am very much an amateur, but also very much in love with what I have seen moving by above us. Do you need to know anything else about me? Oh, I am ill, so please excuse my typing if I leave in the odd stammering letter or typo, but more so excuse me if I appear to get lost or blank off in the middle of a deposition, as my brain is failing me. No sympathy expected, one of my sons said I'm a "glass half-empty" person...maybe I am nowadays.

    Okay, ready to roll!

BTW, while I'm here and because I can't see another appropriate thread...
Can somebody tell me why I don't appear in the Members List?

To help untangle the Members List, Fraser recently adjusted it to reflect only those members who had (I think) ten or more posts under their belt.
So you should appear on it before long.

Thanks for that, Neverfly. Does your parting shot indicate that you've seen my performance elsewhere, or is it just a hopeful assumption?

It was an assumption to reassure you that the Members list wasn't exclusive or anything.

My name is Bob, I'm Canadian. I was referred to this site because some of my posts on Astronomy Photo of the Day (APOD) forum were considered not scientifically well-formatted. I have a theory competing with Big Bang, which is why some of my ideas are not well received by some in the concensus. However, I enjoy APOD, think well of everyone there, and am thankful for that moderator's direction to this forum. I'll post my new theory under Bubble Expansion in astronomy here if I can navigate my way around okay. My friends in elementary school nicknamed me 'Sputnick' because of my interest in astronomy, but I choose Aristarchusinexile because the historic context is important.

    Hi Bob, welcome to BAUT.

You are free to post your ideas, but it sounds like your Bubble Expanion idea should go in the ATM area. You should be sure to read the rules and the FAQs, particularly for ATM - they are at the top of the pages and in the few sticky threads at the top.

Hello, all. First post here. Been reading this forum for a long time and decided to register so I could start asking questions that have been on my mind for a LONG time.

I graduated from college in 1985 with degrees in computer science but also was just a few credits from degrees in electrical engineering, physics, and math. I never lost my interest in astronomy, physics, or cosmology, and intend to, when I eventually retire, to spend my days sitting in classes at the local University.

Thanks for having the forum and for the quality of discussions here. It is another way I've been exposing my teenagers to science and to try and impart a fascination of the universe we live in. While that's not always successful, at least the effort is filled with a lot of discovery.

    Buck the wild

    Hi everyone,

I am a 35 yo Frenchman living in the beautifull town & resort of Cannes.

I am an amateur astronomer since 8 years now and my interest in Ufology came after a sighting I had. I used to be a "believer" & pro-ETH.

Nowadays, I am part of the "French skeptic family", my buddies & inspiration are people like Eric Maillot, David Rossoni, Eric Déguillaume (these guys wrote this book : (http://www.book-e-book.com/index.asp?fx=2&p_id=125) Patrice Seray, Jean-Michel Abrassart (http://scepticismescientifique.blogspot.com/) just to name a few...

I am also a moderator in the biggest ufo-skeptic forum in France :
    http://ufo-logic.xooit.com/index.php

    Peace to ya all.

    Hi!

I'm from Arlington, TX and have been a long time fan of Phil and all the sense he makes. So I decided to join the forum and interact with other like minded individuals.

I have always had an interest in astronomy, space travel and science fiction. I like to build models of spaceships that use propulsion systems not known to present day science.
