Hello. I'm a 24 year old IT guy from India. Big fan of the BA and decided to join up here. Hoping to learn and contribute as much as i can.![]()
Hi Sandeep, welcome to CQ!
In the Space Exploration forum there is a discussion of the announced Indian probe to Mars; maybe you can share some information with us.
Hi astro friends,
After listening to Pamela and Fraser telling me to become a member on the BAUT forums countless
times on Astronomy Cast, I finally took the time to join.
You all know the story, I've been fascinated by space and entertained by Sci-Fi since I was tiny.
It's only about a year since I've become an active amateur astronomer and bought my first telescope.
To celebrate making the leap into astronomy, I decided to start a blog as well. It still hasn't fully matured yet,
so maybe someone will have some helpful advice for me as I make friends on CosmoQuestX. Needless to say, the recent
success and excitement of the Curiosity mission has really spurred me on to blog much more actively.
I chose to study and become an animator, which is quite happily funding my astronomy (expensive, right?), but I have already had
fancy notions of combining the two some day.
Anyway, I hope to get to know a whole bunch of you and look forward to getting involved here on BAUT forum.
Will
In the mean time; a collage for your enjoyment

Hi Gayle from Portland, welcome to CQ. I merged your hello post into our general Introduction thread. Have fun.
Hello all. Not much to say about myself, not a scientist, just a lover of knowledge. This looks like a great place to find it, I look forward to reading your thoughts and dreams, looks like it may take a bit.![]()

Hi!
I'm Jackson from Southern California, but I'll be moving to Northern Virginia in January. I've been obsessed with space pretty much forever. I got my bachelors and I'm one class away from my master's in astronautical engineering. I've recently gotten really into amateur astronomy and astrophotography.
Hoping to learn some stuff and make some friends
-Jax
HI Jackson!

Hi Jonnynemo!
Welcome to Cosmoquest!

Hello all!
I'm Jason, a long time listener of AstronomyCast (and Slacker Astronomy back in the day). The voice presentation that Pamela and Fraser have has always kept me coming back for more. I found the CosmoQuest booth at Dragon*Con this year, spoke to the very helpful Nicole, and tried out the mapping tools for myself. It's just a little addictive, especially the new Vesta terrain! I also met Pamela and Fraser during AstronomyCast live, which was a real treat. :-)
I've not contributed to online forums (on any site) in recent years due to lack of moderation on the Internet, but this site seems to be run very tight, so I like that, and I'm giving it a try.
I'm looking forward to having some great interactions here - seems like there are kind souls floating about. Hope all of you are well. :-)
Jas

Hello, My name is Jonathan. I am a citizen science enthusiast. I participate in volunteer computing via BOINC and working on a few projects to help interest others in science both volunteer computing and other types of citizen science. The mappers projects are what attracted me here and I wanted to join in.
Hi Jonathan!
Welcome to CosmoQuest!

Hi. I'm Martin. I was looking for some place to share a few ideas (you know, those things that sound good while they rattle around in that faulty contraption between your shoulders, but wind up sounding really strange when someone else says them out load?) and wow! Nice site. Now, I'm off to organize my thoughts, do some searches, etc.
Welcome to Cosmoquest, Martin!

Hey All.
Let me introduce myself. I'm a 39 year old dreamer and father of two awesome kids. I've always been fascinated with space and the idea of life on other planets and am a firm believer that there is life out there, be it too far away to make contact with. I'm a web developer by day and a hobbyist animator by night. Ever since I heard about the planet Kepler 22b and it's Goldilocks orbit I was excited at the idea of some alien race living on the planet.
Anyway so what I have been doing in my free time is creating animated cartoons of what these alien life forms on Kepler 22b would be like. My most recent work has been focused around the Olympics, since we've just had our 2012 Olympics, I wondered what the Olympics must be like on Kepler 22b.

Let me know what you guys think.

Welcome to CosmoQuest, Joofville!
Now, putting my mod-hat on for a bit: please note that our rules do not allow embedding videos, even though the software supports it. Also, as this is the welcome-thread, giving feedback on your video here would be off-topic. Please post it in Off Topic Babbling, or another forum if you feel it more appropriate. From what I saw at a quick glance, I'm sure others here would like to see it too.
BTW, I've removed two duplicates of your post. We work with a moderation queue here for new users, as one of our weapons against spam. Get some more posts and the delay in posting will go away.
