Smile NEW MEMBER? Introduce yourself in this thread.

Alright spill the beans guys! Who are you all? There's got to be a few old introduction threads around from the old forums, but this is all new: so thus a new introduction thread.

I suppose I should start. My name is Matthew (yes my email address ends with an "i"). I'm a 15 year old who goes to school in Melbourne, Australia. Which is incidentally where I also live. I love physics, and astrophysics especially. Though I never seemed to get in the whole observational astronomy thing. Umm... is there anything else I should say? Probably not: it'd bore you to tears.

Hi Well, I'm a 15 year old boy who lives in Brisbane australia, I'm from BABB and I used to be the youngest member- I'm quite upset at this possible loss...

Anyway I'm into astronomy(duh) but equally observational as physics I've also got a site here Note that the forum is brocken atm...

Anyway I can't wait to get to know more people!

Wish we had our old smilies back...

    Cool

Wayne Smith is my name. I'm 34 and used to live in Brisbane. Now I'm a few hours drive west of it. I don't know how long I'll be here now that BA is running things. This could be hello and goodbye.

He doesn't like me very much. Finds my attitude unbecoming.

    Whatever that means.

I just come to this board to read the messages and occasionally post a few. Guess I'll have more time for my own board from now on.

G'day! I'm from Brissy as well, but I'm a year older than mick...

I also enjoy cricket and computer-related gunk.

I can't wait to see what new smileys we have here, nothing can be as bad as what we used to have on BABB... :P

    Unhappy

G'day mates. My name is Russ, as you may have guessed. I live in the Cincinnati, Ohio metrosprawl. I've just become a grandpa for the sixth time, a little girl, Madyson, 6.5lbs (3 kilos for you metric types).

I have some mates & a niece downunda in the Brizzzbun area, others in Tazzie, so I know how you lot work.

I'm not so sure I like this new merger. There were 900 & change people (members) looking at the board a few minutes ago. I feel lost in the crowd. I don't care for that feeling.

I really enjoyed cozy, friendly air of the BABB community. I guess I'll hang here for a while and see if that sense of community develops.

That was a bit of an error, we had the last 24 hours of visitors showing as "active". It's actually only 100 or so currently active. And it's totally natural to have a large group of people checking out the new board.

Having a small community is nice because everyone is very close and familiar, but it can get lonely sometimes. Especially when you see some poor people who post a great topic or question and are met with total silence because there just aren't enough people around to chat.

With a large community, you can get a little lost in the crowd, but there's always someone to talk to. Even obscure topics will turn into lively conversations. I personally prefer the larger groups, just because I like getting exposed to so many ideas, etc. But then, maybe that's just my attention deficit disorder showing.
