if it's on the package, and it's not true, the Feds step in--at least in the US; can't speak for other countries.
actually, what's in Spam isn't bad. what's in most sausages isn't bad. what's in chorizo is best not thought of. and you can't get proper haggis in this country because the FDA won't let commercial meat packers sell lungs.
