I need some help here..The term "K effect" gets brought up..I gather from other forums that it was discovered in 1911 and I think it is an old description of intrinsic redshift...

Is this right? Or, is there some other explanation?

Further, in explaining intrinsic redshift I need to clarify something here..Some have defined it as distant particles or gases that move slower than our reference frame that we are in..Arp uses this definition when describing how emission lines might be redshifted to us due to this...

Still others use the term "redshift of the rest frame of the galaxy" which must be discounted in measuring redshifts for distance...Filippenko uses this term...

Are both the same?

So when I look at the Sun and see cells rising and falling, are these red and blue shifts considered intrinsic?
