Hey, I'm "Grab0raft"!

Here's a webpage about tidal anomalies that shows that the spring tides occur a little later than new or full moon.

HUb' feels bad about the Bad Astronomer having to move HUb's thread about tides from the Lunar Conspiracies board to the General Astronomy board--so bad that he thinks it might be as painful as our own pathetic existence as earthlings. He gives notice (in particular to three posters, ToSeek (ToSneak), GrapesOf Wrath (Grab0raft), and Mr. X (M.x)) that he will try to come up with an example of a location somewhere that has a spring tide that is displaced from full moon by seven days. He's given himself a deadline of 12/13.

Thanks for the Rosetta stone, Grapes.

I've been studying Hubbish myself, and I think I'm starting to catch on, at least a little. I'm not sure what this says about my sanity...

Hub' -- sorry, hope you can get that HDTV real soon. If you do, let me know if it's worth the $$$, or if I should hold off a bit longer.

Yeah, there is some slight lag, usually explained by friction and geometry of coast line--but in general the agreement with theory is pretty good.

If I recall, when I looked at this a few years ago, there appeared to be only one serious unexplained discrepancy in the dozens of different tides that are produced.

HUb' is an experiment on artificial intelligence. You're not talking to a human. He's just a machine in the basements of an ultra-secret lab in Nebraska, trying some "do do da da". Sometimes I get close to understand It.

But It is getting better in power of conceptualization. Sometime next two years It'll be solving the question of the unified field.

The BABB just wouldn't be the same without HUb'.

And if you read enough of his posts, he actually starts to make sense now and then. You can even have something of a reasonable conversation with him, if you know how to interpret his code.

    ...But only sometimes.

His code is kinda like Pearl language. BA should include a "Hub' compiler/interpretor" in BABB software package, so everybody could read him.
