Alright. That about does it. <_< I'm pissed off, and sick and tired of hearing some people say global warming and related events are human-induced, while others say it's natural.

So since I cannot do a poll, how about this:

Who thinks we harrassed the planet, and who thinks the recent occurences are natural?

I would say 30% was human-induced and 70% was natural occurrences.

I'm a nature man, too. I believe that 100 to 150 years of data, with only the last 30-40 years being high quality and comprehensive, is not enough to extrapolate out the last 1,000,000 years of weather history.

Yeah. I think we're just on a Natural High Heat Peak (HHP) as opposed to Human-Induced Biospherical Changes (HIBIC).

But we can do something to save some rainforests.

There is no question about the rise in Carbon-dioxide levels increasing over the last 150 years. Where did it come from? What percent of the new CO2 in the atmosphere do you think came from natural places vs. the amount that has come from things we have done including:
- vent CO2 while extracting natural gas from wells
- burn natural gas
- burn coal
- burn oil
- burn wood from the rain forests

CO2 is a greenhouse gas. You can't seriously say it has NO effect.

As to saving the rain-forest, at the rate we're going, you're going to need saranwrap and a big freezer.

Hmm, I have heard of the Runaway Greenhouse Effect. Apparently, from my own memory, scientists think the same happened to our dear Mars. I am wondering if we are at the start of such an effect, caused all the accumulation of carbon dioxide and genocides of our rainforests.

Short, simple answer to that: no. Conditions here are much different, the earth has gone through harsher times and, after five billion years, is still here. So I do not see how a little thing like this can ruin everything. Read up on Ian Malcolm.
