Wow. I hadn't realized that it had been around for that long. I love that site. It's the first site I go to when I log on to my web browser. Yes, even before I check e-mail. I've learned a lot from it over the past couple of years I've been reading it.
I applaude the people behind APotD that look to space and have managed to find 3,653 (three leap year days in there) new and exciting aspects of it for us to look at. =D>

Actually I think they've made a few "doubles" in their time (no complaints from me, was I around 9 years ago?) but it doesn't matter. I love APOD and congrats to them for surviving for 10 long years. =D> =D>Originally Posted by hippietrekx

Great site, I have visited there almost every day for years. Congrats! =D>

That place is a great resource for everyone who are in to astronomy. I have found many beautiful pictures there over the years.
I love the april fools ones- they crack me up!

APOD is just awesome. 'Nuff said. Whenever I'm just looking into a slightly more specific astronomy topic I admit I always search there first. Yes, because I like pretty pictures too!
By the way, did anyone else notice the little pictures in the background of the one today? I thought they were cute! For those who didn't notice, try finding the sun and the Eskimo Nebula in the background...

I didn't notice that! Once I started looking I also found the Hubble and Saturn and the two globes (one in front of them, one on the cabinet) are pretty "non-standard". On the wall to the left of the Hubble photo is a line that looks curious too.
I think the one in the back is Saturn, and the one in the front looks to me like a map of the cosmic radiation background.Originally Posted by Swift
Nice. I'll be sure to print it out this weekend and add it to my modest office wall collection of selected APOD shots.
I'm pretty sure the one in front is a picture of the sun in the UV spectrum. There's a website that updates (or at least, used to) those pictures daily, but I don't remember what the address is. The only reason I know is that my dad downloaded the picture every day for about 3 weeks and then put them together in sequence to make an animated GIF for his AIM icon.Originally Posted by NEOWatcher

(this is off topic, bear with me...)
So, if 666 is commonly referred to as "The Devil's Number," does that make mickal666 mickal555's evil twin?
I'm scared...
No offense, mickal, but picking on you is pretty fun!

P.S. I usually use APotD pictures for english report visuals. They work well to help explain astronomy concepts to my teacher. (Yes, I do science reports for free-writing essays in english class. My teacher hates "boring science reports" and keeps telling me to write creative stories. :-? I guess she misses all of the scientific puns I write into those reports...)
