Asking for URL: Meteorites for kids

    Hi,

My five year old boy has picked up a slight fear of meteorites (to add to his fear of earthquakes). Possibly too much discovery channel?

In relation to his concerns, can anyone recommend a good kid-oriented website we could explore together?

    Thanks,

Hi! I did some web searching for you (because no kid should be afraid of space!) and found this neat NASA.. uh.. thing.

    NASA Storybooks

Scroll down and click on the one that says "Rocks in Space." I'm 15 and I though it was neat. Also, on page 3 of the archive, there is a "Comets" page for kids. I don't know if your son knows the difference between a meteorite and comet, so you may find that page helpful too.

There's also lots of other information on that page about lots of things in space. Maybe you could give your son a little intro to what all that stuff up in the sky is.

    Hope it helps!

Many thanks for the link hippietrekx. Your post was also a real boost at a time that I needed one. Cheers.

Great cartoon, TriangleMan. That comic may actually be useful. I've discussed with my son that he should wear a seatbelt in the car, and I bought him ear muffs for when he hangs around while I'm lawn mowing or wood-working. But I've also tried to let him know not to fret the stuff that's out of our control.

    Cheers,

I'm glad that the link helped you out. I found tons of informative sites, but none in a language that a little kid could understand. Then I found the "NASA Kids" link.

Good information in layman (or laykid) terms.
