A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Studio

My local library has "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Moon" on DVD. I had hoped when I saw the listing that it was related to the paperback, which came out about 1970, and told of a lot of the humorous stuff in the space program ("Why don't we just call it FRED?") I lost my copy of this long ago.

Once I knew what the DVD was all about, I started to watch it, wondering what they had to say, but I couldn't even get 5 minutes into it.

I tuned out when it became obvious that it was just a Michael Moore-type anti-American diatribe. They wanted to condemn the United States, and were using the space program to do that, as a convenient club to whang on us with.

I don't know if they actually got around to talking about space or not. I gave up during a lot of film from Viet Nam.

It's Odd that they were trying to use the US space program as a 'basher' tool.
You would think that even with the setbacks recently we have done a lot to advance mankind's quest for space.

USA Bashing is out of this world in itself. What really gets me is when we bash ourselves in front of the world. They may be exercising their right to free speech but why bash the ones who are protecting that right?

I watched it once; you didn't miss much. My impression is that the video doesn't make any real effort at all to show "evidence". The thing just goes on for an hour or so with the narrator telling us exactly what we should believe while denying the viewer the information needed to reach his/her own conclusion. The purpose is to get an emotional response from the viewer rather than a reasoned one.

Like I said, "Michael Moore" -- check your brain at the door.
